Unique handmade painting, inspired from the original byzantine icon Virgin Mary Glykofilousa. The original icon is located at the Monastery of of Philotheou at Mount Athos. Ιs one of the icons saved from the Iconoclastic Controversy and brought miraculously to Athos.
My depiction is painted with coloured pencils on craft paper, enclosed in a wooden frame with gold finish paint and double glass. The front glass of the frame is matte to ensure the details of the painting are conveyed correctly.
A unique modern icon perfect as a thinking of you gift, as this depiction of Holy Mary symbolizes Virgin Mary as a caring mother guiding us, full of compassion and hope.
