Hand-Painted Theotokos Icon: Virgin of Love, Mount Athos Style

The virgin is the spiritual ornament of orthodoxy.
For us Christians, she is our suffering mother, our comforter and protector. The beauty of Panagia is not carnal but spiritual. Where there is spiritual beauty, respect and pure love abound. Our virgin has this beauty.
Inspired by the icon ( Panagia tis agapis – Virgin of love) of the monk Michael of Mount Athos .
The prototype is from an ancient icon, a valuable relic of Russian national and ecclesiastical history, since it is associated with the Battle of Kulikovo Pol (Snipe Field), and the national hero of Russia and Saint of Orthodoxy Dimitrios Donskoi.
The Virgin of Don is said to have been painted between 1382-1395, by the famous icon painter Theophani the Greek, teacher of the leading Russian icon painter, Ag. Andreas Rubliov.

This handiwork is painted with Acrylic on Canvas .
