One of the "great" saints of our Church,
John the Baptist Saint and prophet of Christianity. He was a contemporary-peer of Jesus Christ and it is considered that with his teaching he prepared the world to welcome the Messiah Jesus[1] (Luke 1,76), hence the designation "Forerunner", whom he also baptized.[2]
His teaching was telling, asking every person to stop their immorality, baptizing those who made such a decision. As a biblical figure he is considered to be at the crossroads between the Old and New Testaments. In the Old he is considered as a "Prophet" and messenger of God[4] (Malachi 3,1) and in the New as a "Forerunner". John is mentioned by all four Evangelists.
