Unique handmade painting, inspired from the original byzantine icon Virgin Mary of Love (Donskaya). Painted with coloured pencils on craft paper, with additional golden paint details, enclosed in a wooden frame with metallic finish paint and double glass. The front glass of the frame is matte to ensure the details of the painting are conveyed correctly.
A unique modern icon perfect as a Baptism, baby shower or even wedding gift, as this depiction of Holy Mary emphasizes the tenderness between the mother and the child.

The original icon Our Lady of the Don (Russian: Донская икона Божией Матери) is a 14th-century Eleusa icon representing Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus Christ. The icon, currently held in Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, displays an Eleusa composition. The origins of the icon and the exact date of its creation are contested. It is believed to be painted by Theophanes the Greek c. 1382-1395. The monastery book of Donskoy Monastery states that Our Lady of the Don was a gift from Don Cossacks to Dmitry Donskoy the day before Battle of Kulikovo (1380).
The Eleusa (or Eleousa) (Greek: Ελεούσα tenderness or showing mercy) is a type of depiction of the Virgin Mary in icons in which the infant Jesus Christ is nestled against her cheek. In the Western church the type is often known as the Virgin of Tenderness. Such icons have existed in the Eastern Church for centuries.
